The gifts were wrapped, placed by the tree waiting in anticipation for Santa and his special needs children to be perched on his knee. It is 6:55 and now 7:00 when the children start streaming in to experience this wonderful night. A night filled with love, surprises and fun to even keep the young at heart attentive and full of delight.
The 2nd Annual Special Needs Children’s Christmas Party hosted more than 280 guests. It began with the arrival of Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and many attentive elves to ensure the children and their families experienced a fun filled night of gift giving, good food and outdoor fun. Presents were opened, crafts were made and games were played. Children were strolled to enjoy the Christmas lights and chasing bubbles through the night. ‘Our hearts were full by watching and hearing the parents and children’s comments on how incredible this night was for their families.’
There were enough toys that we were able to share with other special needs children within the public school system. We were all blessed to experience this magical night.
Thank you to all who participated in making this event extra special!!!
Helping local communities to embrace individuals with disability by educating, teaching, and bringing awareness. Brave Like Bronson, Inc. inspires school-age children how to respond to and embrace children with special needs by providing age appropriate educating tools and hands on experiences. This will allow entire communities to practice tolerance and awareness while accepting and understanding the world of special needs children and families.
The Jacksonville area has over 300 families with a child who is carefully monitored by at least 5 different specialty physicians, putting them in the "medically complex" group of care. When one of our special kids goes to the hospital, many times it's under an emergency situation. When this happens, these families have NO time to pack a bag, and arrive at the hospital only to be admitted to the PICU under specialized care.
This is where our Bags of Hope come in. Each bag contains snacks, things to help pass the time, basic essential toiletries, and a few comfort items. These are given as a gift to help families during a difficult time.
We are just beginning our fundraising efforts in hopes of covering a majority of the cost incurred to assemble the bags. Each $20 donation will adopt one Bag of Hope. Donating is simple! To adopt a Bag of Hope please use the DONATE NOW button. Please put 'Bags of Hope' in the notes section. Then, click DONATE to complete your donation.
Then, sit back and feel great knowing you just did a really great thing!!! A huge THANK YOU, in advance.
2016 has been a “Roll With The Wind” year with the racing chair. Since cooler weather has arrived, this means it’s officially race season for Brave Like Bronson, Inc. The cooler air allows Bronson to tolerate the weather conditions and we take full advantage of it for him. Race days are equivalent to the Super Bowl for Bronson. This is why every race—large or small—brings us so much joy!
Members of “Team Bronson” have been involved in numerous 5K races, half marathons and a 55K Relay race. We do not take the next few months lightly as this incredible race team is preparing for some big upcoming races.
January 28, 2017, Team Bronson will be involved in their 2nd 55K Relay Race for Wolfson Children’s Hospital (The Wolfson Children’s Challenge Race). This race is very dear to our hearts as Bronson has been a patient in Wolfson hospital many times.
We are excited to say that Wolfson Children’s Challenge Race has requested Bronson as an honored featured child for their upcoming 2017 race. Wolfson’s PR group has also asked for a filmed interview with Bronson for Wolfson’s promotional purposes. We will share the clip on the website after it is finalized.
Team Bronson will have two teams running in the upcoming 55K Relay Race. Each team carries 11 runners. It’s a big race day for the team and a race unlike any other!
We, at Brave Like Bronson, Inc. encourage others to run. Find an organization or individual that allows the buddies system for special needs individuals. Inclusion is a key factor and the amazing individual that you help support will leave you with an experience that you will never forget. There is power and inspiration in wanting to be the legs for someone that cannot fully use their own.
